Zebra Burning

Hi there everyone!! Spring is here, although its still unusually chilly in Florida for this time of the year. I have a week break from college so I plan on going to Universal studios with my friends, the beach with my sister and camping this week; I am super excited! In the art world I have been busy making a zebra wood burning for my good friend Anastasia who's attending a cooking school out in Arizona. It's been a while since I picked up these tools so I'm afraid I'm a little rusty, but I do love the effect of the paint and the different shades of the burned wood together. My next project will be a monkey painting for my sister Amber who is expecting, she is making her nursery safari theme. I have already begun the sketches so I will be sure to post them next time. Have a great week!!

Keeper of the Castle

Hi there everyone! Today I went to the outback with my sister and got a blooming onion, afterwards we stopped by at the craft store just to browse and I ended up bringing home an entire castle! I also found a little treasure chest which I stained a darker color and then painted. I cannot wait to start painting the dragons new home next!
  Hugs- Heidi

A few more dragons, some paint, and then this thing will look great!

I forgot to take a picture of the chest before I painted it
so I found a picture of one similar.

A dragon egg nearby that I am working on.

You can't see the little map too well here in the picture but
I spent a long time letting it soak in tea, and then I burned the
corners to give it an "older" look.

Valentines Day Dragon

Hey there Bloggers! It's almost Valentines day and Cupid has been searching for love in all the wrong places! This little dragon is 3.5 inches long and has a wingspan of just 4 inches. I had lots of fun taking the pictures I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Autumn seems a little annoyed by the little romeo.

Time for a nap.

Back to the search!

Cupid is wondering what could be in that cup?

Not much!

Dragons

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing well! I've started making a lot of new bears lately but they are taking so long.. I think I might have gotten a little burnt out. Yesterday I was surfing the web and found some really cool dragons people had made and I felt some inspiration and decided to make one of my own. This little guy is just a prototype, my first attempt at a dragon and his name is Leaf. He's 2 cm tall, 4 cm long, and 5 cm wide (including his wings). He is entirely movable with wire running from tail to snout and everywhere in between and he is made from ultra suede.

Bears and FISH

It has been a while since I have had the time to blog, I've been so busy with school and work.. I did not get much of a summer. Every night though I still set a little bit of time away to work on my bears and they are coming along .. very very slowly. A couple weeks ago my family and I went away for a weekend to the beach, it ended up raining the entire time (except the day we were leaving.. of course) so we went to an aquarium and saw some pretty amazing fish and sea creatures. Here's some pictures of the bear I'm working on and all the animals I met. Have a great weekend!

Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright

While I was walking through the craftstore yesterday I picked up another piece of wood to decorate, and what do you know here I am crafting again. I decided this time to use an engraving tool which burns into the wood; the fire and the embers reminded me of a poem by William Blake I once had to memorize for AP Lit. It goes,

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

My "Tyger" !

The burning stage
